| Purpose: | To reflect the relationship between conflict and change |
| Participants: | 4 to 15 |
| Time: | 45 min. |
| Materials: | White board White board pens (if possible in different colours) |
| Process: | This activity can be used before introducing the theoretical content to conflict and change (click here). 1. Start by writing the words "conflict" and "change" on a white board in big letters, leave space between the words. 2. Ask participants to take some 5 minutes to reflect on the relationship. In their experience, when did conflict - on different levels - lead to change? Did change lead to conflict? 3. After their individual reflection, participants can get up and write associations about the relationship of conflict and change on the whit board. They can use errors to indicate a direction in the relationship, or other symbols. 4. After everyone has contributed, discuss the result in plenary. (As a next step you can now make a brief presentation of Lederach's thoughts about conflict and change and - in an interactive manner - draw connections to what participants have developed on the white board.) |
