| Purpose: | To increase participants' understanding of what conflict is |
| Participants: | 3-4 to 15 |
| Time: | 45-60 min. |
| Materials: | Notebook Pens Flipcharts Marker pens |
| Process: | This activity can be used before the content "What is conflict?" - in order to get started with the topic. 1. Ask participants to take some time to individually answer the question: Think about a conflict you experienced - What happened and why do you use the word conflict to describe the situation? Give sufficient time (ca. 10 min.). 2. Organise participants in small groups of 3 (depending on group size). In the groups, participants can discuss their respective conflict experiences with the task to extract some general characteristics of conflict from your group's examples and experiences. 3. Gather possible defining criteria/general characteristics from the groups in plenary on a flip chart. You can look at them again after you have introduced content. |
