| Purpose: | To develop a working definition of conflict |
| Participants: | 4 to 20 |
| Time: | 60-80 min. |
| Materials: | Notebooks and pens White board Marker pens Handouts |
| Process: | 1. Organise participants in groups of 4 and assign the task: The groups should - based on their experience and some material provided - develop what they think is a good working definition of conflict. This they can do with the following steps:
2. Let groups report back to the plenary. Write the definitions on a white board (or flip chart). 3. Together with the participants, highlight common elements and differences in the definitions provided. Now let the participants vote for one of the definitions - the one that they find best to work with. (If there is no "winning" definition, you can facilitate a process of developing a synthesis of the definitions with highest scores.) |
