Purpose:
  • To get started with the topictopic;
  • To explore participants knowledge and experiences abouton the topictopic.
Participants:articipants:8 to many

Time: 30 minutes

Materials:Envelopes, possibly in different colours
Index cards
Pens
Process:1. Before the training, prepare 4 envelopes by writing the words Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning each on one of the envelopes. Put 3 index cards in each of the envelopes.

2. Organise the group into as many teams as envelopes, i.e. 4. Ask teams to brainstorm about the term written on the envelope and note down associations, examples, elements on one of the index cards.

3. The first round takes 3-5 minutes. Index cards are put back in the envelope and passed to the next team. In the next round, the teams do not look at the index cards already filled by the previous team, but write on an empty one. This round is repeated one more time.time, until all three cards in each envelope are filled.

4. In the fourth round, the procedure changes: Now the teams are asked to look at the index cards in the envelope that was handed to them (with the term that they have not dealt with before). The teams now are asked to compare the index cards and choose the 5 most important associations, examples, elements.

5. In the plenary, now the selected terms are read to the group and notesnoted on flipcharts. These flipcharts can be used for the final session, in order to compare associations before and after the training.
