| Purpose: | To identify possible data collection methods for the baseline focus |
| Participants: | The participants should at include the team working on the project for which the baseline study is planned. Other staff, such as finance officers and adminitstrative staff could be involved. The process should be as participatory as possible, therefore ideally include local partners and other stakeholders. |
| Time: | |
| Materials: | Baseline tables (see below) Flip charts Marker pens |
| Process: | 1. If number of participants allows, split the team in two groups (at least pairs). If you have decided to work on more than one baseline focus, each group can deal with one. If you only focus on expected results, divide the results and let each group work with a different part of the chain (for instance group one with Outcome 1 and attached lower level outcomes and outputs). Distribute tables to the groups accordingly. If possible, prepare the tables before hand, for instance filled in the results and indicators from previous sessions. 2. Let groups work for 45-60 min. Walk the room, listen in and assist if necessary. 3. Ask groups to report back to the team and note their findings on flip charts. |
