Activity: Why doing conflict analysis?
| Purpose: | To identify why conflict analysis is a necessary tool in peacebuilding and what challenges could be faced |
| Participants: | 4 to many |
| Time: | 35 min. |
| Materials: | Flip charts Marker pens |
| Process: | 1. Write the question: "Why should we do conflict analysis?" on a flip chart. 2. Ask the whole group to brainstorm responses and write all responses on the flip chart. 3. Look at the responses with the group and give a summary. If you think that important points are missing (see content here), encourage the group's thinking. 4. Write on a new flip chart "What challenges for doing conflict analysis could you think of?" Encourage participants to think about their past experiences with conflict analysis. Write all responses on the flip chart. 5. Distribute the handout "Conflict analysis and building peace" to participants as a summary and allow for some minutes to read and add key ideas from the flip charts. |
