- Wilson-Grau, Ricardo, Outputs, Outcomes and Impact, Powerpoint presentation. <http://www.outcomemapping.ca/resource/resource.php?id=179> (accessed 30 June 2009). This 4-slides power paint presentation provides a real life example and explanations for what outputs, outcomes and impact are. The focus is not on peacebuilding.
- What about the impact? There is a debate in the field of peacebuilding, whether impact should be a focus of peacebuilding initiatives. Below are two articles that summarise the debate and take different stances.
- Christoph Spurk, Forget Impact: Concentrate on Measuring Outcomes. Lessons from Recent Debates on Evaluation of Peacebuilding Programmes, in: New Routes, Vol. 13, 3/2008, Uppsala (The Life & Peace Institute), pp. 11-14. (http://www.life-peace.org/sajt/filer/pdf/New_Routes/NewRoutes83.pdf). This article also provides visual aids for working with results chains (p. 13).

| Activities to digest the content
- Building a house. This activity should ideally be used after having introduced the concept of results chains. It asks groups of participants to use the results chain concept for a practical example: building a house!
- Results chain exercises. In this activity, participants develop results chains for existing peacebuilding initiatives.
- Outcome vs. impact. This activity is structured as a debate and aims to problematise the higher level of results chains. It goes together with the content "What about the impact?"
- In addition, you can choose from a variety of content-processing activities here.
Activties/facilitation tips for developing results chains
- What is our roadmap to change? This activity is meant to facilitate the process of developing results chains for a project or programme. It is best used as a continuation of the activities to explore theories of change.
